ShutterOdo

Terms of use

Updated 2026-10-13. By using ShutterOdo you agree to these terms.

The service

ShutterOdo is a free tool, provided by Owlgo LLC, that reads the shutter count a camera has recorded. It runs in your browser. We may change or discontinue features at any time.

Accuracy

ShutterOdo shows the number the camera recorded. It can't detect a count that was edited in a file, reset by a shutter replacement, or recorded differently by the camera maker. Rated shutter life figures are the commonly cited ratings and are not guarantees. Don't rely on ShutterOdo alone for a buying or selling decision.

USB connections

The USB reader only requests information from the camera and doesn't change its settings. You connect your camera at your own risk, and you're responsible for any driver changes you make on your computer, such as switching a camera to the WinUSB driver.

No warranty

ShutterOdo is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, Owlgo LLC isn't liable for any loss arising from using it, including decisions made based on a reading.

Affiliate links

Some links, such as those to MPB, are affiliate links. Owlgo LLC may earn a commission if you buy or sell through them, at no extra cost to you.

Third-party software

Photo reading uses ExifTool by Phil Harvey, distributed under the same terms as Perl, compiled to WebAssembly with zeroperl (Apache-2.0). Fonts are licensed under the SIL Open Font License.
